Portland 2008: Day One

Waking up in a funny place wasn't too upsetting for Angus. He still had his 7 a.m. poo (despite the fact that he was up from 11-1am last night) and happily explored the sights in the hotel room.

He was totally playing with this baby in the mirror. He would run in and out of his view playing peekaboo and trying to catch him... hilarious!


Once we all got up and took part in the free (beyond) continental breakfast at the hotel we got in the car and headed to Downtown Portland. Our driver (Anna) has a poor sense of direction and considerable road rage... so far it has been quite amusing. :)

We stopped in Washington Park and looked at the Rose Garden and views of Mt Hood and the city.

We also gave ourselves a tour of some local neighborhoods. We sampled a park where it was clear that the "sue everyone all the time" gene has not infected their gene pool yet. They have all sorts of playground equipment that you don't see in the OC anymore... like merry go rounds, and a TEETER TOTTER!


We're back at the hotel now, Angus is sleeping, I am going to try and catch a snooze in a bit.

Rod and Anna went to find a liquor store (obviously she won't be our driver after that!).

It's rained once. :) But the weather has been great... very mild temps, nice moist but not humid air. EVERYTHING is green... EVERYTHING. Portland (or the bed at the Phoenix Inn) has cured Rod's back pain... but his insomnia still rages. Only 3 more days to do an overhaul on him, we'll see how it goes! ;)
